A patrol car you build yourself
For Kenniscentrum Handhaving we designed a paper model of the Volkswagen Touran used by municipal enforcement officers in Dutch cities. The model is recognisable by the blue striping, and the sheet is used as promotional material and as an educational object.
It is printed on A3 and folded down to a handy A4 format. The model is sold in the Handhaving webshop and handed out at events. Children from the age of 4 can build it with an adult’s help. The sheet leaves room for information about the work of the officers who drive these cars.

- Large print run, full colour
- Sold in the webshop and handed out at events
- Suitable from age 4, with an adult’s help
A challenging build
A car made from a single piece is faster to assemble, but it follows the real shapes less closely. For this Touran we used separate parts: the front and rear bumpers, the wheels, the mirrors and the roof light are individual pieces.
That lets the front become properly rounded, instead of staying a boxy shape. Building is more of a challenge, and the result looks like the enforcement cars you see on the street.
About this project
Kenniscentrum Handhaving wanted a recognisable model of their patrol car, suitable for handing out and for selling in their own webshop. We drew the Touran with the characteristic blue-and-yellow striping and the enforcement logo.
The sheet includes a short explanation of the work of enforcement officers and a tip to finish the car with paint or stickers. The print run is large, so there is enough for bigger webshop orders and for busy events.
A car children recognise from the street, now available as a paper model. Also for sale through the Kenniscentrum Handhaving webshop.
