Five new buses, five paper models
For the introduction of a series of new buses in Groningen and Drenthe, we designed a set of five paper models for Qbuzz — one for each bus. From the Qliner to Emmen to the Q-link routes to Annen, Leek and Roden: recognisable vehicles that passengers see on the road.
Each bus comes with extra parts: drivers (male and female), passengers, stop signs and bus stops. Under the bus you find detailed information about that specific model.

The five routes in paper
Each paper model belongs to a specific route and bus type:
- Qliner line 300 Emmen — (Van Hool)
- Line 83 Assen — (Ebusco)
- Q-link line 5 Annen — (Heuliez GX Linium)
- Q-link line 3 Leek — (Heuliez GX Linium)
- Q-link line 4 Roden — (Heuliez GX Linium)
That makes the introduction of the new fleet tangible in miniature. Not a flyer or a video, but something you cut out, build and keep.
Large edition, sustainable print
In total, 14,000 paper models came off the press — full-colour, on FSC paper and with bio-inks to reduce water use during printing. Enough to distribute widely at the introduction, at stations, at events or via schools and partners in the region.
The mix of familiar routes, figures and detailed info under the bus makes the set suitable for children and for adults who want to know more about their new buses.
The bus paper models are popular. Even after the introduction period, requests and orders still come in.
The result
Qbuzz had a concrete, playful and informative way to put the new buses in the spotlight. Passengers and local residents build “their” bus; children play public transport with their own stop and drivers.
