The floating robot
In the film Captain Nova, robot ADD always floats near the main character. Gusto Entertainment asked us to recreate that robot in paper. The result is a challenging build with the iconic eyes, wings and long antennas.
The paper model was offered as a free download via Cinekid. Print it yourself on sturdy paper, cut, fold, glue — and ADD is yours too.

About Captain Nova
Captain Nova (2021) is the first Dutch science-fiction film for the whole family, directed by Maurice Trouwborst. The story: in 2050 the Earth is almost ruined by an environmental disaster. Fighter pilot Nova travels back in time to prevent it, but a side effect of time travel lands her as a twelve-year-old in 2025. Nobody takes her seriously — except Nas and her clever robot ADD.
The film opened the Cinekid Festival and won Best Children’s Film, Best Dutch Children’s Film and the audience award. Robot ADD — who finds humour hard because it is difficult to program — quickly became a favourite with audiences.
From film set to living room
We drew ADD so he stays recognisable in paper: the distinctive shape, the cute look, the feeling of a small companion always floating over your shoulder. Printed on model paper it is sturdy enough to stand and light enough to hang nicely.
What is more fun than having the film’s best supporting role as a miniature long after the credits have rolled?
The result
Gusto Entertainment and Cinekid gained an accessible, playful promotional tool that fits the film: science fiction you can really create at home. Children build their favourite robot — and anyone who cuts and glues carefully ends up with a fine mini sculpture.
